Example 1 - Expedition 1 Feedback
Well done (H), your contributions were invaluable to the leadership of the group, especially during the first day as the navigator. You expressed confidence in your abilities and even shared your knowledge with the rest of the group; this made the group naturally want to follow you as they felt comfortable with your decision making. You really do have great outdoor skills and even learnt new ideas quickly and integrated it into your role as a leader; it was actually impressive how accurate you were with your navigation Hannah. You excelled at being the enviro caretaker on the second day, you spoke clearly to the group and kept them organised and on time; making sure that the group was headed towards accomplishing the end goal. However you may need to step back and let others take control of their roles because a leader needs to delegate roles, rather than doing it all themselves. It was great to see you get excited about being on an expedition and getting into the enviro role even though you were dreading the beach walk, for you didn’t complain and bring the team down; a vital leadership skill! However you need to bring appropriate clothes for the conditions, it’s not a good look to be hiking in your thermals when you have clothing in your bag; it demonstrates that you are unprepared, which great leaders strive to be the opposite. Overall you performed extremely well as a leader of the group and you should be very proud of your achievements, we are really looking forward to an even better performance on the next expo!
Example 2 - Dance
These assessments are are used as part of a 11-12 week unit of dance education, the first task being formative and the second being summative to increase their awareness of dance being a viable method of lifetime physical activity. The core of the unit being assessed is for student groups which do not freely engage in dance (such as non athletic males) to gain an awareness that dance is not just about complex moves, the individual can use their lived experiences as movement.
